Our Story

Griffin Estate is a community of converted former farm buildings; re-purposed & re-imagined for creatives, entrepreneurs & innovators in rural Wiltshire.

The opportunity to buy this special plot of land (& save it from developers), gave us the chance to continue the varied legacy of previous owners, who shared our passion for gardening and beekeeping, and at one point gave a home to child evacuees during the war. Our idea was to draw together a thriving community of people engaging in a diverse range of activities; from producing, repurposing & communing to creating & growing. With that in mind, we have sympathetically repurposed the former farm buildings & now have a growing & truly eclectic & industrious community of kindred spirits.

The initial idea of a community garden began in early 2017; realising that this time is about coming together& reforging our ties with the earth itself was our focus & priority. We officially became “Griffin Growers”in 2020 during the 1st Corona Virus Lockdown. Now with a 30+ strong membership of volunteers who meet twice weekly to donate their time to the gardens, each session begins with a group silence, which has resulted in a profound bond of friendship& camaraderie across all ages & experiences. The community table of seasonal produce is available year-round to buy by donation.

We have recently launched “The Gathering Space”; two of the former farm sheds joined together to create a phenomenal double-height, light filled events venue. With a huge open-plan, professional grade kitchen, The Gathering Space is suitable for community gatherings, corporate get-togethers, off-site team meetings, pop-up supper clubs, kitchen demos & more. With “wow” proportions, this space will undoubtedly inspire & reignite the groups that come to gather within.

Overlooking wild landscaped gardens, the back of The Gathering Space has its own huge terrace which will house its very own bbq & pizza oven later this summer.

Next door in the Coworking building we have six studios for artists & makers, creating a wonderfully eclectic & industrious atmosphere. We have dedicated one of the studios to alternative health practitioners who once approved, can book this space to see clients. We envisage Reiki, acupuncture& more in a nurturing space to heal & flourish.

In the open plan part of the Coworking building we have 3 huge tables with charging points a plenty, an 8-seater meeting room & 2 single meeting dens. This is a serene spot to work on your next side hustle or a place to complete that business plan you’ve been working on. We have memberships to suit everyone from “Weekend Warrior” packages to those needing a daily spot away from the distractions of home. With its own open plan kitchen & help-yourself tea & coffee, this is a place you can knuckle down & focus amongst like-minded entrepreneurs & grafters.

At the back of this building is Griffin Club; a community-led education initiative empowering youth (10-14 years old) to learn from real-world experience and personal mentorship. Griffin Club is very much part of the ethos of community on site & works closely with Griffin Growers.

Wiltshire Scrapstore has been the longest-standing tenant at Griffin Estate & is an award winning environmental and community charity. Scrapstore collect resources that would otherwise go to landfill and redistribute them for creative activities and projects of all kinds, from arts and crafts to DIY.

Our aim at Griffin Estate is to continue to grow & evolve naturally. We welcome ideas & partners to share & contribute to our wonderful community. Please do enquire if you would like to visit any of on-site activities or spaces.
